When I phoned this morning I was surprised that help was offered immediately. The problem was with our toilet in the upstairs cloakroom; the overflow had been running and my husband had tried to sort it out, but hadn’t succeeded. It was soon dealt with, with some useful advice given about how to turn off the water in the airing cupboard and out on the pavement. The cost was very reasonable and we were very pleased with the outcome.

Harry was superb! I discovered water dripping from the ceiling in the lounge and running down a section of wall. Having turned off the heating, hot water and mains water, I was lucky in sourcing the leak on a cold pipe on the landing. I was recommended Harry by a friend. I called Harry, he was round in 20mins, confirmed the problem and replaced the section of copper pipe which had a split. Harry is polite, tidy, knowledgeable and explained things well. I rang Harry at 9.15, he was round to us by 11.30 repaired a leaking pipe which was very loose under the kitchen sink. I also asked him to look at our toilet where the cistern didn’t finish running water. He was very obliging and solved the problem. We find Harry very efficient and helpful.

Excellent service to attend to a leaky water pipe joint within a couple of hours of contacting the company. Reasonable price charged and utmost care taken to make sure the job was completely sorted out. Highly recommended.

On delivery of a replacement dishwasher (the original being 22 years old) the delivery men explained that they were unable to fit it as there appeared to be a leak with the pipe supplying the machine. This was very worrying as we were due to go away a couple of days later. Rang A1, the very pleasant lady who answered took the details and said Harry would ring back shortly. Received a call within ten minutes and he arrived at the house a few minutes later. He sorted the problem with the pipe, fitted the new machine and gave some valuable information regarding the stopcocks to the property. He is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced and resolved a real problem for us with courtesy and efficiency. The fee he charged was very reasonable compared to the usual call out fees charged by some emergency plumbers. We would strongly recommend him and will be taking his advice. Thank you Harry.

Great service and at a very reasonable price. We had a bit of an emergency with water leaking through the ceiling from an overflowing water tank in the loft as the ball valve was no longer working properly (plus a separate less urgent problem with a weeping in line valve). We phoned up at 8am and he was here just after 9am. He's obviously very knowledgeable and has 'seen it all' so he had both fixes done in no time. It just shows that experience really counts. Absolutely brilliant. Came out on a Saturday lunchtime of Bank Holiday weekend, within half an hour of phone call, to fix washer in rather old tap. Cleaned out both taps, fixed washers, even removed limescale from basin. Very reasonable fee as well. Cannot be faulted.

Arrived promptly and after trying various methods to resolve the problem we agreed to a replacement cistern. A few moments later I had a knock at the door to say that he had thought further and that we could try something else. This resolved the problem for a fraction of the cost of replacing the cistern. I cannot fault the work of the honesty. I will definitely use again.

Had a real emergency on Thursday (22/7) with a leak on the joint of the main stop-cock in our Garage. Tried myself to cure it to no avail while my wife called A1. Harry Brough was with us in under 20 minutes and did a superb job replacing the stop-cock and joints. He was properly attired (mask etc) for the current circumstances; respectful; offered advice on some points - and nothing seemed to be too much of a problem. His call-out charge was more than reasonable as well. Excellent value for money and highly recommended.

I have just had an emergency repair to a leaking stopcock carried out by Mr Brough from 'A 1 Plumbing' based in Early. This was a most efficient, courteous and prompt service, plus a very reasonable price. Just 2 hours from time of call to fix! Would definitely recommend.

Came within 24 hours of my phoning. Toilet cistern malfunction. Harry assessed the problem and resolved it on the spot. He replaced one or two old parts while he was at it, and left all tidy afterwards. Very reasonable cost. Would definitely use again if necessary.

Discovered a burst pipe on the outdoor tap early Saturday evening and called A1 Plumbers - Mr Brough arrived promptly at property. He was very patient, courteous and informative throughout. He quickly determined the problem and located the isolation valve to enable us to keep the main water supply to the household without flooding the garden with water. He was very knowledgable and advised on the actions needs to resolve the issue.

Mr Brough came out last evening as we had a serious leak near our hot water tank. He was up and down to our loft and located the problem – a small hole in the pipe! He was with us until quite late, fixed the problem and we just wanted to put on record what a wonderful service he provided. A real star!

Came home to find a crack in my pipe under the sink - called Mr Brough and he was there within half an hour and pipe was repaired within half an hour. Very quick and efficient! Will definitely use Mr Brough again as his knowledge is extensive and a complete life saver in a stressful situation.

Ongoing problems with flushing two WCs at home, not urgent but increasingly frustrating. Contacted Harry Brough who arrived the same afternoon and after a couple of hours efficiently solved both issues replacing numerous worn parts. Now don't need muscles like Popeye to flush the downstairs loo! Very tidy and showed obvious concern for not making any more mess than absolutely necessary. Extremely reasonably priced for the work needed. Harry's number is already saved in my phone!

Checked the directory, A1 Plumbing seemed ideal for a number of smaller outstanding jobs we had at home.Taps Dripping/WC parts. Harry responded promptly and was with us the next day. Yesterday we found a mystery leak from a lavatory cistern and called Mr Brough. He came in about half an hour, swiftly located a fine crack of the cistern, stopped the flow and will fit a replacement very soon. While here he also managed to dismantle and rewasher a tap that was incurably dripping and had not been attended to for decades: a difficult job well done.

Responded to my panicky call-out, on-site within the hour. Fixed the problem with minimum fuss. Considering the emergency response I felt his call-out charge of £65 was fair and reasonable. Contacted A1 on Monday morning reporting a water leak near the stopcock. They were able to send a plumber Monday afternoon. Plumber arrived early and was able to locate the leak and unfortunately for me it was in a difficult location (behind kitchen cabinets and in a corner surrounded by other pipework) that some plumbers would have walked away. Very happy the leak was fixed quickly and professionally. Highly recommended company.

Mr Brough came out for a routine job of replacing regular isolation valves for full bore ones in order to increase our shower flow. At 5 am we discovered water pouring out of the kitchen wall. I called Mr Brough as soon as it was civilized to do so. He was very kind, calm and reassuring on the phone and said that he would come over straightaway. The pipping that he discovered behind the plasterboard was a mess and the burst pipe was behind other pipes. He very quickly found a way to replace it and did a fantastic job. Bank Holiday Sunday, water pouring out of a pipe under my sink! Several failed calls to my home insurance co (who I have plumbing cover with!) I did an internet search for a local plumber and found A1 Plumbing who were just up the road from me. Called at 9.30 and explained the problem and they were with me within an hour having put back another job. Not an easy repair but completed quickly and efficiently. A fantastic job and I am extremely grateful as I was expecting to be without water for at least a couple of days. Customer service how I remember it years ago! Well done.

We wanted a kitchen mixer tap replaced, a job made more complicated as the existing tap had an additional supply from a water filter (to be removed as parts no longer available) under the sink, together with the hoses to and from the dishwasher and washing machine thus limiting work space. Mr. Brough arrived promptly at the agreed time, gave me a running commentary on the actions he was taking and completed the job to my full satisfaction, leaving the area clean and removing the old items. It is now 10 days after the work and no leaks have occurred. I believe the price was reasonable for the time and work involved and so I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Brough of A1 Plumbing.

Called Mr Brough to arrange for a new kitchen tap to be fitted. He was able to come the same day and installed the tap cleanly and efficiently. Whilst clearing up he noticed that the drainer was coming away from under the sink and he very quickly cleaned it up and resealed it for me. Great job, very satisfied.

I called on A1 Plumbing, the plumber was very thorough and mended my toilet cistern, but was not able to attend to my leak as it was (I would assume) in a very precarious place and also at ground level (in my garage and would mean having to dig up my garage floor. I had a big plumbing issue on Easter Saturday. I randomly rang a few plumbers and left messages, A1 was the only one to call me back. H Brough called me back and when I asked for him to come out on Easter Sunday he was honest enough to tell me there would be a call out fee, to which I agreed. On the Sunday he arrived earlier than expected, did the job very efficiently and only charged the call out fee. I was very impressed with his knowledge, his polite manners and general efficiency. He was calm did a check over everything and took photo's so I could explain the problem to Aqualisa. Who funnily enough said they had to install as they wouldn't support their own warranty otherwise. Harry is really knowledgeable and kind and you def feel in safe hands being a woman as there is no blinding with science just plain common sense and a way forward.

Harold Brough of A1 Plumbing has saved my bacon a couple of times in recent months, the first time when a lavatory refused to flush, the second when a fractured seal turned a kitchen tap into a water fountain. In both cases the original fitter had taken short cuts, and "economised" on materials so that I could not attempt a repair without risk of serious damage. HB found a way round each problem, without danger and with the minimum of disturbance. The jobs are now far better than he found them - and all done with a very prompt response and at a very reasonable cost. Routine maintenance should be easy. I would have every confidence in turning to him again in a similar situation, and I can recommend him without hesitation.

Mr Brough responded quickly to a request to repair my toilet cistern which was not flushing reliably, was able to attend next day at the arranged time, changed the worn diaphragm and checked and changed some other parts, tidied up the hook connection from the lever to the plunger, explained what he was doing and why, was tidy and checked his shoes were clean at the door before entering the house. I had the impression he was a thoroughly efficient, experienced and competent plumber, would have no hesitation in using him again. £54 seemed a very fair price for the job.

We discovered a water leak on the wrong side of our kitchen stopcock very late in the evening and contacted Mr Brough. He responded very quickly and was at our house until 1.30 in the morning. He managed to turn off the water but left us with the means to turn it back on for showers etc in the morning. He then returned as promised in the morning and repaired the leak very efficiently. His rates were very fair even though it was an out of hours response! I cannot recommend him enough!

We called Mr Brough from A1 Plumbing late on Saturday afternoon after we found a big leak from a copper pipe next to the stopcock. He came out straight away as we were very worried and sorted out a temporary solution. He then came back first thing on Sunday morning to fix it. It is only possible to reach the stopcock from a very small hole in the wall right next to the floor. Mr Brough had to lie flat on the floor to reach it and it was incredible how he managed to cut off the broken pipe and refit the stopcock through the tiny hole in the wall. He was very professional and explained everything to us as he went along. He was very reassuring and knowledgeable. He gave us very helpful advice and money saving tips about water use. Very reasonable price indeed and excellent work. We highly recommend A1 Pluming.

I write to say that A1 Plumbers gave very good service. I had to call out Mr Brough today, a Sunday, because we had a drip from a pipe which feeds into our boiler. He arrived within 10 minutes, did an excellent job and his charge was very reasonable. I would recommend him.

Said he would turn up in 10 minutes – turned up in 10 minutes! Fixed two small jobs on my toilet and tap at very reasonable charge. Would certainly use again. Brilliant.

Harry came in 30 minutes on a cold and wet Sunday morning in December. He was very helpful and polite and was able to locate and isolate the leak. Very reasonably priced and happy to recommend him.

Harry came to fix a leaking radiator valve, made a small repair thus avoiding the need to drain down the system and was generally very helpful. his charge was moderate and I would thoroughly recommend him.

Rang A1 Plumbing when I had problems with 2 stopcocks (one leaking and the other not shutting off the water). Harry was here within the hour and fixed both problems. Also gave useful tips as regards maintenance. Very pleased with the service provided and would definitely recommend A1 Plumbing.

I was very impressed by A1 Plumbing both in terms of the quality of the work completed and their polite, no-nonsense (but not intimidating) approach. I had what I thought was a leaking stopcock which instead turned out to be a leaking pipe that had been cemented in to the wall. A bigger job than envisaged. A1 Plumbing were excellent in highlighting the risks associated with any course of action taken which allowed me to make informed decisions. Despite the change in the scope of the work it was completed quickly and professionally. A1 Plumbing kept mess to a minimum and were very thorough in cleaning up what mess there was. I will definitely be calling upon A1 Plumbing again for my next plumbing emergency.

Following two recommendations, I booked Harry at A1 Plumbing. He arrived on time, considered the problem, found a solution and fixed my leaking sink plughole. He also dealt with another sink issue which I hadn't realised needed attention and fixed that too. I liked Harry's direct approach, telling it as it is. I shall call on him for any future plumbing problems and recommend him to my friends.

Not such a good experience with A1 Plumbing of Earley. I picked them from the green book as it stated 'no job too small' - I had a leaky kitchen tap and bathroom basin taps that needed replacing. A1 very negative about both problems, clearly didn't want to do the jobs. He said that he couldn't get the old basin taps off and suggested I called somebody else. If your job is not quick and easy then don't waste your time ringing him.

After being let down by a plumber 2 Fridays in a row, I rang Harry. I outlined we may have a problem changing the kitchen tap as the stop cock may need replacement. Harry turned up found the stop cock was stiff, but perfectly fine and we had isolators anyway and he proceeded to change my eroded, heavily leaking kitchen tap. Genuinely we understood our stop cock was going to be a nightmare, but thanks to Harry turning up, assessing and then actually doing the job - this has made this customer so very happy. Fair price for a good job, well done and Harry's a straightforward, sound chap. Thank you!

I just want to record my complete satisfaction with the service I have received from A1 Plumbing, especially as it all happened on a Bank Holiday! A severe leakage had occurred which caused quite a few problems in finding the source. This was all dealt with efficiently and cheerfully and I am extremely grateful. I recently contacted A1 Plumbing over a problem with a tap in the bathroom . Within 15 minutes the plumber arrived and cured the problem. He was courteous friendly and extremely efficient and obviously knew his trade inside out. When we asked him about a few other tasks he tackled and remedied them on the spot. At 4pm on a Friday with the only toilet in the house not working we were in a bit of a panic. We saw the good reviews on here and gave A1 Plumbing a call. Mr Brough arrived 15 minutes after our phone call and an hour later our toilet was fixed and working better than ever. Like so many on here, we can highly recommend A1 Plumbing. Mr Brough has been fantastic!! We were in dire straits with a badly leaking waste pipe and he turned up 15 minutes after my phone call and fixed it for us. He has recently been out on two other occasions, one at a weekend to put right someone else's work and again today - fitting us in at short notice. We would just like to say how impressed we were with A1 plumbing when we called them out to fix our toilet flush on Friday. He came with an half hour of when we telephoned and did a great job on what originally seemed to be quite a simple task and turned out to be quite a bit bigger one. He left our bathroom really clean and tidy and was also very reasonable.

I had a leak in a copper pipe in an extremely difficult area to get access to in my bathroom. He did not know where the leak was between the bathroom and the kitchen but quickly found the leak about an arm’s length under the bathroom floor. The pipe was cut and replaced without leaving any residual damage to fixtures and fittings. He was very professional and thorough throughout only leaving when he was sure everything was exactly as it should be. He attended my house within 15 minutes of my call.
I would definitely use them again and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

Attended very promptly after my telephone message and fitted the new taps and toilet cistern siphon which I had purchased. Resolved problems removing the old taps and dealt with having to dismantle the cistern to remove the old siphon and replace it competently. He also dealt with a jammed water valve in the airing cupboard which he needed to close to drain the pipes and advised that this would need replacing at a later date. The completed work is completely satisfactory and the charge was very reasonable. We are pleased with the work that was carried out.

Harry of A1 arrived 25 minutes after I called asking for help. He was great. Friendly, professional and thorough. I insisted on a business card so that I can use him again for any other problems, and also recommend him to friends. I had issues with two cisterns in my house and he fixed them both, efficiently and quickly. And the cost was less than expected.

I had a burst pipe in my house and it was about 8pm. After unsuccesssful attempts at calling out national plumbers I turned to the little green book. I called A1 Plumbers who came immediately. Very nice, fixed the leak and made sure my heating was all back up and running before he left. Gave me some advise on maintenance. Good price considering the time of night.

After a call out to A1 Plumbing we received fantastic service. The plumber arrived within 15 minutes and was very polite and knowledgable. He identified which drain was blocked, having to work in almost complete darkness, and unblocked it quickly. Would not hesitate to use again, though hope it won't be necessary of course.

Mr H. Brough of A1 Plumbing has just finished work for me, changing the pipe work on a jammed stopcock and fixing a bathroom tap. I was very impressed with his work, he was here for just under 2 hours and his price was very reasonable.

He was very prompt after my telephone message and was very reasonably priced after struggling with a wing nut on a rusty thread for ages in a confined space, but finally found suitable parts to get the toilet flushing properly again. He also gave me free advice on several other things. I shall certainly call him again if I have another plumbing problem.
